Code of Conduct & Ethical Guidelines

1. Confidentiality and Privacy

A mentoring relationship is built on openness, which is only possible with complete trust.

• Confidentiality of conversations: All discussions held in mentoring sessions, shared materials, and any personal or company-specific matters that arise are strictly confidential. They may not be shared with third parties without explicit written permission.
• Data protection: Users must follow good data protection practices and respect each other's privacy also outside the mentoring relationship.

2. Trade Secrets and Intellectual Property

The purpose of the service is to share expertise, not sensitive company data.

• Protecting trade secrets: Both parties commit to not sharing or requesting information that is considered a trade secret, or whose disclosure would violate existing employment contracts or non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).

3. Conflicts of Interest and Professional Boundaries

The integrity of the service requires that mentoring remain separate from other business objectives.

• No recruitment: A mentor may not actively recruit or encourage a mentee to move to a job at their own company or another company with which the mentor has a direct affiliation while the mentoring relationship is active.
• Impartiality: The mentor must strive to give advice that primarily serves the mentee's professional development and the interests of their current employer.
• Avoiding side business: A mentor may not use the mentoring relationship to aggressively sell their other services (such as consulting) during mentoring sessions.

4. Professionalism and Honesty

High quality is at the core of everything Nordic Mentor does.

• Validating expertise: Mentors must represent their skills and experience honestly. They commit to only accepting assignments where they have genuine value to offer.
• Commitment: Both the mentor and the mentee are expected to arrive at meetings prepared and on time. Cancellations must be made well in advance, in accordance with the service's terms.
• Objectivity: The mentor must identify any potential conflicts of interest (e.g. competing companies) and disclose them openly before mentoring begins.
• Respect: A respectful and constructive tone must be maintained in all interactions.

5. Harassment and Non-Discrimination

We want to build a community where everyone feels safe.

• Zero tolerance for harassment: We do not accept any form of discrimination, bullying, or harassment based on gender, age, origin, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.
• Professional language: All communication, both on the platform and in sessions held outside it, must be appropriate and respectful. Inappropriate behavior will result in immediate removal from the platform.

6. Communication

• Purposeful communication: In-platform communication may only be used for mentoring-related matters. Mass messages, advertising, or other "spam" directed at mentors or mentees is prohibited.
• Response time: We expect all users to be active. Responses to messages should be given within 48 hours to maintain a professional standard.

7. Responsibility and Reporting

• Feedback: Users are encouraged to give honest feedback on sessions so that we can ensure the quality and impact of the service.
• Reporting violations: If you observe activity that violates these guidelines, you are obligated to report it immediately to the Nordic Mentor team: contact@nordicmentor.com.
• Consequences: Violating this code of conduct may result in the immediate suspension of a user account and removal from the service.
